ReSource The Counselling Centre has launched “Emotional Support Program for Primary and Secondary School Teachers and Students in Tai Po,” in response to the Tai Po fire incident. The program aims to provide trauma-informed emotional and psychological support and training to students, teachers, school social workers and counsellors who may be affected by trauma, grief or emotional distress. The project plans to collaborate with a total of 10 primary and secondary schools in the Tai Po district. Through staff training, group therapy, and individual counselling, the programme seeks to help schools establish a trauma-informed campus support model and strengthen the psychological resilience of both teachers and students. The program is free of charge as it is fully sponsored by the American Club Foundation (ACF) .

Program Objectives

The program aims to support schools in building a trauma‑informed support model, helping teachers and students gradually rebuild their sense of safety and psychological resilience. Objectives include:

• Enhancing academic staff’s understanding of trauma, grief, and emotional distress.
• Strengthening staff’s ability to identify and respond to students’ emotional needs.
• Providing students with a safe and non‑judgmental emotional support space.
• Supporting students in developing emotional regulation, coping skills, and peer support.
• Assisting higher‑needs students in processing trauma and grief.

Target Beneficiaries

• Teachers of primary and secondary schools in the Tai Po district.
• Students who are affected by trauma, grief, or emotional distress.
• Students identified by the school as having higher emotional support needs.
